Wet and Windy!

Looks like its going to be a rather wet and blustery weekend in Snowdonia, with 84 mph winds reported last night.  I’m taking a couple of mountain newbies up for the weekend – hope I don’t put them off for life.  I guess Crib Goch will be off the agenda!

  1. Where are you heading to? We're in the Carneddau the weekend after (6th August) – shame to have missed you! Could've met up at camp – we always carry a wee bit o' port with us. Sure we could've carried a tad more. Got some new kit to test that weekend and when we head to the Alps later in August.

  2. Maz, my pals wanted to do Snowdon – we missed out Crib Goch (again) due to the appalling weather but did the rest of the horseshoe over Y Lliwedd. There's an outside chance I may be over in N.Wales on weekend of 6th Aug – I'll let you know, it would be good to meet up.

  3. We'll be parking at Gwern Gof Uchaf (if they let us) and then heading up Pen yr Ole Wen via the south side of Bryn Mawr then following the obvious route to Fach, Dafydd and Llewelyn, before heading on to the newly named Gwellian and Foel-fras (to get yet another trig point to add to my insanely obsessive collection) then off to find a decent place to pitch. Then, sunday, we'll come back via Llewelyn and Penywaun-wen. That's the plan anyway. Won't be in Snowdonia until Saturday morning – we camp at Sytche in Much Wenlock on the Friday and have a suicidal curry…

  4. I'm watching the cricket at Edgebaston on the Friday so we'll be having a curry in Birmingham on Friday evening but not sure of plans for Sat/Sun yet – I'll let you know later in the week.
